Metaphor and Conceptualization
摘要
In this chapter, we discuss the relationship between body and cognitive processes within the framework of embodied cognition, and how language and cognition are fundamentally rooted in bodily experience. We review key theories of embodiment, and highlight the role of sensory and motor systems in shaping mental and linguistic functions. The discussion on language and embodiment examines how linguistic expressions are grounded in bodily experiences, demonstrating the influence of physical actions on language comprehension and production. The chapter further reviews studies related to Conceptual Metaphor Theory, showing how abstract concepts are systematically structured through metaphorical mappings rooted in embodied experiences.
