The Hybrid Animation Pipeline: A Case Study of “Blue Eye Samurai”
摘要
This study explores the preservation of cultural heritage in the digital age by researching new connections between traditional 2D anime aesthetics, contemporary animation techniques and live-action technologies. Focusing on the innovative hybrid production pipeline of the animated series Blue Eye Samurai, premiered in 2023, which integrates 2D, 3D and live-action, we aim to understand the conceptual and methodological strategies employed by the creative team to maintain cultural authenticity while embracing digital technologies. Our methodology combines the analysis of primary and secondary sources, including interviews with the creative team and technical documentation. The results indicate that the production prioritized artistic and cultural fidelity over conventional animation workflows, enabling the creation of a visual identity that honors its cultural heritage.
