The Future of School Textbooks in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Trends, Models and Challenges

The transition of school textbooks to the digital environment has been driven by technological advances and, more recently, the integration of artificial intelligence, aimed at promoting more personalised, interactive, and adaptive learning experiences. Based on a methodological approach of a narrative literature review, this study aimed to analyse recent proposals for the transformation of school textbooks through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), challenges such as accessibility, equity and the effective integration of AI in educational contexts are identified. This approach allowed for a critical and comparative reading of the contributions studied, supporting the construction of a well-founded reflection on the future of school textbooks in the age of Artificial Intelligence. It is concluded that the success of these future textbooks will depend on the synergy between technological innovation and emerging pedagogical principles.
