Comparative Accuracy of Thermocouples and Thermal Probes in Industrial Cryolite Conditions
摘要
A laboratory scale experiment was performed using a graphite crucibleCrucible containing cryolitic bath with chemistries and temperatures corresponding to industrial aluminum smeltersAluminum smelter conditions. A series of industrial Type-K thermocouples with various diameters were immersed simultaneously in the molten salt to measure bath temperature continuously. During that time, the bath temperature was periodically measured using Heraeus Electro-Nite’s FiberLabFiberlab® equipment and Positherm® probes. This experiment allowed the comparison of temperature variations between different methods and conditions in order to define the response time of different devices and their uncertainty levels. Such results are presented, and the accuracyAccuracy of the methods is discussed.
