The aluminumAluminum die castingDie casting process is the most common way to make castingsCasting as it works well to produce a high volume of castingsCasting. Unfortunately, parameters and non-standard operations can cause various kinds of defects. This work has been carried out at a “Die Foundry” where flatness deviations of a cap castingCasting used in the telecom industry has been analyzed. The analysis has considered both external and internal factors in the foundry process. The results show that the cooling has a significant impact on the flatness of the cap castingCasting. A series of tests were made focused on the cooling of the cap castingCasting and the results showed that caps castingCasting chilled in a fixtureFixture may well solve the problem of flatness deviations.
