Distribution Behavior of Pt During Smelting of Al2O3-Supported Spent Catalysts in a CaO–Al2O3–SiO2 Ternary Slag System
摘要
Al2O3-supported spent catalytic converters constitute an important secondary source of PGMs. SmeltingSmelting-collection technology offers an efficient pre-concentration route for PGM recovery. In this study, five low-melting slag compositions in the CaO–Al2O3–SiO2 system were designed for experimental investigation. The distribution behavior of Pt and the evolution of slag mineralogy were then investigated during 120 min smelts at 1500 °C with 10 wt% metallic Fe as collector. Under the optimum slag chemistry, the Pt distribution coefficient between slag and alloy phases was 3.4 × 10–4, indicating efficient transfer of Pt to the metallic phase. On this basis, the role of B2O3 as a fluxing additive was further examined. The addition of 5 wt% B2O3 markedly lowers the slag melting temperatureTemperature and reduces its viscosityViscosity, thereby enhancing Pt collection and overall energy efficiency.
