Microstructure Evolution of As-Cast IN-718 Superalloy During Its Homogenization Treatment
摘要
The present work analyzed the heat treatmentHeat treatment design of an as-cast Inconel IN-718Inconel IN-718 superalloy. The homogenizing treatment was conducted at 1070 °C for 5 h to eliminate the dendritic structure of the superalloy. Then, a precipitationPrecipitation hardening treatment was carried out by solution treatment at 1080 °C for 5 h and subsequently aged at 600 °C for 8 h. Heat-treated specimens were microstructurally characterized using an optical microscope, a scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, and Vickers hardness. Thermo-Calc software was employed to analyze the solidificationSolidification microstructureMicrostructure with Scheil module, the homogenization treatment with DICTRA, and the precipitationPrecipitation processProcess with PRISMA. The present work results indicated that the as-cast specimen microstructureMicrostructure is mainly composed of γ phase dendrites and (NbTi) carbides. The homogenizing treatment reduced the microsegregation of superalloy. Besides, the aging treatment promoted the precipitationPrecipitation of the γ′ phase. The experimental results showed good agreement with the Thermo-Calc calculated ones.
