Extraction of Rare Earth Elements from Coal Ash of Thermal Power Plant
摘要
The coal ashCoal ash of a thermalExtraction powerRare earth elements (REEs) plant was leached inCoal ash nitric acid, and it was found that the pregnant leach solutionSolution (PLS) predominantly contains rare earth elements (REEsRare earth elements (REEs)), such as lanthanum (La), neodymiumNeodymium (Nd), praseodymium (Pr), cerium (Ce), and yttrium (Y). In this research, solvent extractionSolvent extraction tests have been carried out using different organic extractants, such as D2EHPAD2EHPA and Cyanex 923Cyanex 923 in kerosene, where isodecane was used as a modifier to extract REEsRare earth elements (REEs) from this PLS. Different operating parameters, such as time, temperature, A/O ratio, feed metalMetal concentration, and extractant concentration, were studied to determine the optimum conditions for maximum extractionExtraction of REEsRare earth elements (REEs) by the extractants. Experimental results revealed that Cyanex 923Cyanex 923 performs better than D2EHPAD2EHPA, where about 89% Ce, 77% La, 92% Pr, 93% Nd, and 96% Y were extracted at their optimum conditions.
