PVP/Bioglass 45S5 Regenerative Membrane as an Alternative to Plates and Screws in the Treatment of Bone Fractures
摘要
Bioglass 45S5 is a highly bioactive ceramic used for bone regeneration. We present and characterize a PVP/Bioglass 45S5 membrane intended to stabilize bone fractures without rigid implants. Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy confirmed progressive hydroxyapatite formation over four weeks, while X-ray Diffraction suggested structural changes consistent with bioactivity. Rheological tests showed pseudoplastic behavior, supporting application on irregular surfaces. While this approach appears promising as a less invasive alternative, it remains an early proof-of-concept without in vivo validation or regulatory approval, highlighting the need for further biocompatibility testing and alignment with medical device standards.
