The Research Journey
摘要
This chapter traces the progression of a doctoral research journey from personal insight to a multidomain theory of veteran reintegration. The process begins with a review of tactical health demands, expands through a scoping review that integrates mindfulness and strength and conditioning, and advances into an Evidence Integration Review that combines quantitative outcomes with qualitative veteran narratives. These iterative steps emphasize the importance of methodological rigor, where design choices, outcome measures, and synthesis strategies influence both scholarly validity and practical application. The trajectory concludes with the development of the BRAVE Framework and BRAVE Theory, which place identity reconstruction at the heart of reintegration across psychological, physical, social, and economic domains. The final synthesis highlights precision reintegration approaches that are biologically responsive, culturally competent, and operationally adaptable. This chapter demonstrates how lived experience, methodological training, and systematic inquiry interact to illustrate how practitioner–scholars can transform fragmented evidence into coherent, actionable models for veteran reintegration beyond.
