I did not find autoethnography; rather, autoethnography found me. I had been practising the autoethnographic approach even before I found out that there was such a method, with my artistic pursuits having always been a form of autoethnography. Autoethnography is a method that does not force anyone to suppress their own identity or interests; it enabled me to be I-with, an artist, a researcher, and an academic at the same time.

I did not find autoethnography; rather, autoethnography found me.
