Recovery of Copper from Heap Leach Residue via Froth Flotation
摘要
Heap leach residueHeap leach residue from the Copperbelt province in Zambia contain about 0.6% total copperCopper. Copper is present in both sulphide and oxide minerals. The main gangue constituents in the feedstock are quartz and K-feldspar. The copper sulphide minerals in the feedstock are tarnished thereby making flotation not easy. Owing to the high demand of copper worldwide, this research focuses on extractionExtraction of copper from the heap residue. Copper was recovered as a concentrate via froth flotationFroth flotation. CopperCopper was concentrated from a feed grade of 0,38% TCu into a concentrate of 32.01 weight. The final tailings consist mainly of quartz and K-feldspar which further be processed for the extractionExtraction of aluminumAluminum and potassium thereby leaving only quartz.
