Multispecies Justice in Engineering, and Engineering Design
摘要
A new ethical framework for the field of engineering, multispecies justice, has been developed. Multispecies justice in engineering advocates for broadening ethical responsibility to recognize nonhuman species as valid stakeholders in the design and execution of technological systems. This framework encourages engineers to evaluate the impact of their work on the welfare, agency, and ecological functions of animals, and to pursue design approaches that support coexistence, minimize harm, and advance equity among species. Rather than an appeal for compassion alone, it represents a systematic shift in how engineering defines its objectives, assesses success, and interprets its broader effects.
