This chapter first posits the following question that faces engineering today which is “How does our profession value the animals with whom we share life on this planet and by extension the natural world?” It is a question that can no longer be ignored with rapidly advancing technology. Considering the possibility that animals and the environment have value raises questions about how their well-being might be integrated into engineering practices and how engineers might address the concept of justice for animals.
