Policy and Institutional Support for Innovative Education
摘要
This chapter explores how institutional and policy-level frameworks can support innovative educational design, particularly in relation to learner autonomy, self-regulated learning (SRL), and engagement. It examines key drivers such as quality assurance processes, curriculum approval systems, and funding incentives, highlighting both enabling structures and systemic constraints. The chapter emphasises the importance of aligning institutional strategies with pedagogical values, presenting practical approaches for embedding innovation in curriculum design, staff development, and digital infrastructure. Through international case studies, such as the UK’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), Australia’s national blended learning initiatives, and an Irish university’s curriculum redesign, the chapter illustrates how policy can serve as a catalyst for meaningful change. It concludes by identifying principles for creating responsive, inclusive, and autonomy-supportive environments across higher education. These insights serve as a bridge to the book’s concluding chapter, which considers future directions for educational innovation and the role of educators and policymakers in sustaining transformative practices.
