Neuromuscular scoliosis is frequently seen in patients with myelomeningocele. Deformity in this population can be early-onset and progressive, resulting in large curves at young ages. These patients are also medically complex and nearly universally experience bowel and bladder dysfunction, lower extremity weakness, and, commonly, hydrocephalus.
