Regulation and Compliance in a Data-Driven Economy: Challenges and Opportunities for Legal Frameworks
摘要
In an increasingly data-driven economy, regulatory frameworks and compliance mechanisms are under growing scrutiny as industries and governments grapple with the challenges of managing vast amounts of data. Data protection has become an increasingly critical aspect of cyberlaw in the digital age. With the widespread use of technology and the Internet, individuals share a significant amount of personal information online, making it essential to establish legal frameworks that safeguard their privacy and prevent misuse of their data. The major challenge is the global nature of the Internet, where data flows across borders, making it difficult to enforce consistent data protection standards worldwide. Another challenge lies in the rapidly evolving technology landscape, which necessitates continuous updates to laws and regulations to address new threats and emerging issues. This research article evaluates international best practices and their relevance to Oman, particularly considering Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and other regulatory initiatives. Furthermore, ensuring compliance with personal data protection laws requires a collective effort from various stakeholders, including governments, organizations, and individuals. Building awareness and promoting a culture of privacy and data security are vital to fostering a safe and responsible digital environment.
