The Case of FIU Ireland
摘要
This chapter explores the establishment, role, structure, and operation of the Irish Financial Intelligence Unit, known as FIU Ireland. First established in May 1995, its role has changed significantly over the past 30 years, most notably with the introduction of the AML regulation concerning crypto-assets. Drawing on interviews with key staff and a thorough document analysis, issues around autonomy, staff and training are discussed in this chapter. The lessons learned in Ireland are applicable to any global FIU, especially those that are aligned with FATF.
