Crypto-Assets: Technology, Adoption, and Criminal Exploitation
摘要
Money is a constituent part of both money laundering and AML. It is constantly changing to reflect technological advances and can be considered both technology and a system. This chapter will briefly examine the changing nature of money and the technological developments that led to the introduction of Bitcoin in 2009. The distributed and pseudonymous nature of Bitcoin, and the many subsequent crypto-assets, raises public policy concerns about their illicit use for cybercrime and money laundering (crypto-laundering), which attracts the attention of regulators wanting to understand and address the phenomenon.
