In the framework of the IAMON research project, the following tests are carried out: (a) Tests on three free-standing columns in scale 1:1, without connectors; (b) Tests on three free-standing columns in scale 1:1, with connectors between the successive drums, and between the base and the first drum; (c) Tests on subassembly (not presented herein). The tests are performed in order to study the seismic behaviour of columns with and without connectors between the drums, compare the experimental results, make conclusions on the improvement of the behavior, and finally, get the necessary information for the calibration of the analytical models. Triaxial (X, Y and Z direction) tests are performed. The columns of the Gymnasium in Ancient Messene have been selected for testing, given that the rather small size of the monument allows testing in scale 1:1, which, according to the studies of the Researchers has never been done before, for ancient monuments. All columns are constructed using three drums and one capital. The three columns are identical in terms of dimensions and preparation of all the interfaces. When the drums are connected with vertical connectors, connectors made of titanium, with dimensions 15 mm * 15 mm * 60 mm are used. The connectors are positioned in grooves, of larger dimensions, using a grout of very high strength. The instrumentation consists of accelerometers and cameras, for the continuous monitoring of the movement of the specimens. The results of the tests and measurements of the free-standing columns are presented in the present paper.

摘要

The connectors are positioned in grooves, of larger dimensions, using a grout of very high strength. The instrumentation consists of accelerometers and cameras, for the continuous monitoring of the movement of the specimens. The results of the tests and measurements of the free-standing columns are presented in the present paper.
