摘要

The chapters in this book advance the critical role and necessity of green financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries as a crucial mechanism for supporting sustainable development through aligning financial systems with environmental objectives. The chapters bring forth various frameworks examining key financial instruments such as green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and climate-focused investment funds’ effectiveness in mobilising capital for sustainable projects. Additionally, the chapters highlight existing policy frameworks and regulatory mechanisms supporting green financing, including the contribution of financial institutions in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues into investment choices, particularly in emerging economies. The unanimous recommendation from the chapters illuminates key strategies for not only establishing an effective green financing ecosystem but also promoting the nexus between green financing and sustainable economic development, in the emerging economies. These strategies include development of effective regulatory frameworks, context-specific green finance mechanisms like incentives and tax rebates, and supportive technologies, fostering collaborations and capacity building for SMEs to participate.
