In the era of disruptive technologies resulting in steadfast growth in the industry and the meteoric use of technology for environmental sustainability, an intriguing study on the ethical use of technology for organisational long-term success becomes highly essential. Therefore, the purpose of this book chapter is to study the pivotal role of ethics for digital sustainability with a laser focus on enhancing privacy and transparency. For this book chapter, a narrative literature review approach has been adopted to synthesise and contemplate the ethical use of technology by organisations for ensuring environmental sustainability. Articles that specifically focus on the ethical technological use, environmental sustainability, and greener futures will be considered for the study. The review of literature suggests that using various technologies and models that contribute towards recycling, remanufacturing, and waste-to-energy conversion contributes to reducing emissions and minimizing environmental impact. Digital sustainability, ethical use of technology, and maintaining data privacy, along with transparency in processes, play a pivotal role in building trust in green initiatives. Tools such as blockchain, IOT, and AI lead to climate monitoring and industrial sustainability, but only when applied responsibly. This research work provides valuable insights regarding the application of ethical principles and models for ensuring digital sustainability and greener futures. Ethical dilemmas can be addressed in a thoughtful manner through responsible utilization of emerging technologies, guided by a framework that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and environmental stewardship.
