Cybersecurity Challenges and Emerging Trends in Construction Industry
摘要
In this chapter we explored the evolving cybersecurity landscape in the construction industry, highlighting how digital transformation through BIM, CDEs, smart devices, and IoT has enhanced efficiency but also introduced complex security risks. While existing frameworks like ISO 27000, IEC 62443, and GDPR provide a foundational starting point, they fall short of addressing the construction sector’s unique lifecycle stages, fragmented supply chains, and emerging technologies. This chapter indicates that future research must focus on developing construction specific cybersecurity standards, lifecycle aware security models, scalable and interoperable CDE infrastructures, and secure-by-design principles for smart devices. Additionally, trends such as AI-driven threat detection, edge computing for real-time response, and ethical data governance are critical areas where academia, industry, and policymakers must collaborate to create a resilient, secure digital foundation for future built environments.
