A Study on Digital Mythological Experience Design Based on Interactive Narrative Theory: A Case Study of “The Legend of the Dragon Mother”
摘要
Mythology serves as a crucial carrier of collective memory and cultural values for nations. However, current mythological digitization practices predominantly focus on unidirectional information transmission, making it difficult to achieve users’ perception and internalization of the profound cultural values embedded in mythology. Therefore, based on Ryan’s interactive narrative theoretical framework, this study proposes a design approach aimed at transforming abstract cultural values into users’ profound experiences: targeting emotional immersion as the core objective, employing dramatic plot as the narrative framework, and establishing behavioral integration, frequent interaction, natural interface, and dynamic creation as core interactive design principles. Taking “The Legend of the Dragon Mother” as an example, we developed a multi-branched narrative script game with ink-wash painting aesthetics, enabling users to experience from the mythological protagonist’s perspective. Experimental results demonstrate that compared to linear viewing modes, the interactive version shows significant advantages in core dimensions of emotional resonance and cultural value perception, validating that applying the aforementioned design methodology for mythological digitization constitutes an effective pathway for deepening mythological experiences. This research provides a feasible approach for transforming mythology from mere viewing to active user participation experiences, while offering practical reference for the in-depth dissemination of digital cultural heritage.
