Exploring the Impact of Training and Development Programs on IT Project Teams’ Performance: Insights from Telecom Industry

The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of training and development programs in enhancing the skills and competencies of IT project teams and improving their performance, as well as identifying the challenges that may hinder their professional growth. Additionally, the study seeks to examine the role of Human Resources (HR) in supporting the ongoing professional growth of IT project teams in the Telecommunications sector in Jordan. A structured questionnaire is developed to collect data from project teams and HR in telecommunications companies, data from 366 respondents is analyzed to identify patterns, relationships, and trends. SPSS software was used to analyze the data. Survey results from 366 participants show that technical training and HR support positively influence IT project team performance in Jordan's telecommunications sector. Respondents rated training programs highly for their structure and relevance, while HR was appreciated for facilitating professional growth. Improvements in training duration and HR's role in career development could enhance this further. There is a lack of research studies specifically focused on the effectiveness of training and development programs for IT project teams in the telecommunications sector in Jordan. This research study fills this gap by providing new insights into the impact of these programs on the performance of project teams and the success of IT projects. We believe that the results of this research study can provide stronger insights for designing more effective training and development programs for IT project teams to enhance their skills and competencies.
