This article aims to determine the best site for an earthquake logistics base in Dhaka, Bangladesh, taking into account the population under the individual city police stations’ authority. The Center Of Gravity (COG) method is used to determine an appropriate location for the proposed earthquake logistics base in Dhaka city depending on the population of respective police stations. A non-participatory observation is also carried out to determine the location. In this quantitative study, longitude and latitude are used to locate the police stations using Google Maps. The study finds, the Latitude (N), and Longitude (E) are 23.7653413 and 90.4048079 respectively. The area is Tejgaon Industrial Area (Registry Office) under Dhaka city. Physical surveillance (observation) is also performed. The area is well connected by rail and roads. There are theoretical and practical ramifications to the study. The study demonstrates methods for determining an exact location for the best use of logistics based on an area’s population. The Ministry of Disaster and Relief in Bangladesh could find the results and COG approach as helpful. This study demonstrates the technique of finding out a location for a logistics base in Dhaka city, which is new in the field of Supply Chain. Thus, the paper adds value to the literature of Supply Chains, and helps determine the location for humanitarian and logistics base’s location in case of turbulence time.

摘要
