AI and Financial Inclusion in Mexico: A Challenging Relation
摘要
This work analyzes how financial inclusion in Mexico has interacted with artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years. Initially, it discusses how AI contributes to the development of financial operations in the country for individuals. The second focus examines how AI-driven automated processes in the financial sector may lead to certain disadvantages for consumers, other financial service providers (e.g., traditional banks), and the government. The present study addresses especially the Case of Fintech companies and similar financial entities. It also discusses some implications of AI in financial processes. Finally, the third focus explores the regulatory challenges established by the interaction between AI and financial sector members. Arguments are presented on the current state of one of the main laws regulating this interaction in Mexico (the Fintech Law), and the following steps to improve it, particularly regarding anti-discrimination efforts.
