Variations in the Importance of Soft Skills Across Different Cultures: A Comparative Study
摘要
In an increasingly interconnected world, the importance of soft skills has grown significantly, particularly in education and employment. While soft skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and adaptability are universally recognized, their perceived value and application vary across cultures. This study explores these cultural variations, highlighting how different societies prioritize and develop soft skills based on their unique values and professional expectations. Western cultures often emphasize individualism, critical thinking, and innovation, while Eastern cultures prioritize hierarchy, collective decision-making, and adaptability. The research underscores the limitations of standardized soft skills training frameworks, arguing for culturally adaptive approaches that cater to diverse global needs. By fostering cross-cultural competence and integrating localized training strategies, educational institutions and employers can enhance workforce readiness and promote more effective international collaboration. Future research should focus on refining soft skills training to balance career preparation with holistic personal development, ensuring that individuals are equipped to succeed in a globalized environment.
