Mining activities pose significant environmental risks, including soil, water, and air pollution. Phyto-micro-remediation, an innovative approach combining plants and microorganisms, offers a promising solution for sustainable remediation in mining areas. This chapter discussed the mechanisms, applications, and benefits of phyto-micro-remediation, highlighting its potential for cost-effective and eco-friendly remediation. Field observations in Odisha and Jharkhand states of India are discussed and 30 enumerated plant species are listed having phytoremediation properties. Present study also explores challenges and future directions, emphasizing the need for further research and development to optimize phyto-micro-remediation approaches. Phyto-micro-remediation can contribute to sustainable development and environmental protection in mining areas by harnessing the power of plants and microorganisms.
