Use of Extended Reality in the Tourism Sector: A Bibliometric Analysis Across Scopus and Web of Science Over the Last Ten Years
摘要
Extended reality is an emerging technology that has evolved significantly in recent years. However, its state of maturity is quite different depending on the economic sector where it has been applied. The tourism sector, where company/people communication is a key factor and where one of the main products to be sold are “destinations”, makes exciting the role that extended reality can play in creating innovative solutions at the service of the sector and of its customers, who are global. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis based on Web of Science and Scopus sources, presenting an overview of the last ten years of R&D in extended reality applied to the tourism sector. The results obtained are discussed as a contribution to understanding patterns and/or trends that could help actors in the tourism sector and developers of extended reality solutions.
