Financial, Tax and Accounting Literacy - a Study in the 12th year of Secondary Education

This paper aims to study the level of financial, tax, and accounting literacy among 12th graders. This work is divided into two main groups: the first focuses on the literature review and the second on the empirical study. In order to reach the conclusions, a questionnaire was used as a data collection tool, implemented with students from two secondary schools in the city of Aveiro, Portugal. The conclusions drawn are in line with what was expected and what has already been concluded in other studies, i.e., the level of financial, tax, and accounting literacy is classified as medium-low. This study is relevant because it shows how necessary it is to focus on these issues in order to prepare young people for the needs of the present and the future.
