Online Survey to Assess Mental Health Literacy and Resilience a Study Among Young University Students from Brazil in International Mobility at a Portuguese University
摘要
Mental health and academic resilience are linked, since the ability to cope with academic challenges influences a student’s psychological well-being. Resilience in academic contexts, which usually involves managing and adapting to stress and anxiety, contributes to positive mental health outcomes. Thus, promoting resilience in education can improve mental health and create a stronger foundation for overall well-being in academic communities. In this study, the profile of academic resilience and mental health literacy among Brazilian students at the University of Aveiro in Portugal is mapped and analyzed using the validated instruments ‘Mental health literacy questionnaire’ (MHLq) and ‘Resilience Scale CD-RISC-10’ applied in an online survey on LimeSurvey platform of the University of Aveiro. The results reveal good or moderate mental health literacy among the participants in the research; however, they also identify some vulnerabilities that lead to reflection on the importance and need for further research with an emphasis on analyzing and creating interventions to promote mental health among internationally mobile students. The results of this survey contributed directly to the development of the “Mais Um Dia” app. The “Mais Um Dia” app aims to promote preventive care and mental health literacy, which offers guidance from health professionals, daily health tips, a screening test for symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. This app has no medical or diagnostic purposes.
