Exoskeleton Technology for Feline Rehabilitation: Conception, Approaches and Control Methods
摘要
The article briefly reviews the history of prosthetics of human and animal limbs, emphasizing the insufficient attention to bionic prostheses for the latter. For the first time, a concept of a companion animals’ rehabilitation (e. g. a cat) using an exoskeleton of the shoulder/pelvic girdle is proposed. The exoskeleton is equipped with a microprocessor control system without the need for a complicated and expensive neural interface. The multi-axis sensors of the tilt and acceleration are used as a source of data on the animal's activity. The shoulder/pelvic girdle exoskeleton is implemented as a prototype. The article presents the results of the first tests of the exoskeleton control system.
