This chapter discusses evidence-based, non-pharmacological interventions for improved management of fibromyalgia (FMS). It includes an overview of diagnostic criteria, as well as current data on prevalence, risk factors, and health disparities. It overviews three symptom assessment tools: the Fibromyalgia Survey Questionnaire, Fibromyalgia Rapid Screening Tool, and Multi-dimensional Health Assessment Questionnaire. The chapter provides support for compassionate FMS care aligned with the biopsychosocial (BPS) approach with focus on symptom tracking and enhanced engagement in physical activities via pacing techniques. Integrative medicine (IM) techniques include tai chi, acupuncture, mindfulness, and massage. A case vignette is used to illustrate presented concepts. The chapter concludes with Clinical Pearls, Frequently Asked Questions, and Resources.
