Empowering Solo Living: A User-Centric App Design for Women’s Safety and Independence
摘要
The abstract should summarize the contents of the paper in short terms, i.e. 15–250 words. Nowadays, more and more women choose to live alone. Although this lifestyle brings freedom, it also brings complex challenges, including security risks, lack of life skills and emotional vulnerability caused by independence. The existing solutions, such as universal maintenance platforms or emergency hotlines, are often scattered and cannot fully meet the specific needs of women living alone. For this reason, we have proposed a mobile application interface specifically designed for the environment where women live alone. By applying the theory of empowerment and social support, our design aims not only to enhance users’ autonomy and control over their daily lives, but also to cultivate a sense of connection, security and mutual assistance. This application integrates several key functions: AR-based maintenance tutorials to build self-reliance capabilities; A secure appointment professional maintenance service system; An emergency one-click alarm to ensure safety in potentially dangerous interactions; And there is a dedicated community platform where women can exchange experiences and support each other in real time. This article also introduces the evaluation results we obtained based on the use by 25 women. Through this design, what we seek to establish is not merely a practical tool, but an integrated support system that empowers and connects women who live independently.
