Urinary incontinence (UI) is broadly defined by the International Continence Society (ICS) as the “involuntary loss of urine during the bladder storage phase [1]”. Clinically, this may manifest as “the self-reported absence of involuntary urine loss or negative results on stress or pad tests” [2] and is usually accompanied by some degree of subjective bother for the patient. Furthermore, urine is expelled from an orthotopic anatomically intact urinary system (e.g., urinary leakage from a urethrocutaneous fistula is not considered a form of incontinence).

摘要

Urinary incontinence (UI) is broadly defined by the International Continence Society (ICS) as the “involuntary loss of urine during the bladder storage phase [1]”. Clinically, this may manifest as “the self-reported absence of involuntary urine loss or negative results on stress or pad tests” [2] and is usually accompanied by some degree of subjective bother for the patient. Furthermore, urine is expelled from an orthotopic anatomically intact urinary system (e.g., urinary leakage from a urethrocutaneous fistula is not considered a form of incontinence).
