Blending Tradition and Innovation: Sustainable Interior Design for the Historic Baladya Souk in Dubai
摘要
This study promotes a sustainable redesign of Dubai’s Old Baladya Souk, with new materials without compromising its traditional nature. It sets a benchmark for sustainable interior and exterior design in future and existing buildings, supporting Dubai’s sustainability goals by employing green, local materials for a minimal environmental footprint. Backed up by site analysis, materials audit, visitor survey, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the report highlights the need for sustainable materials for durability, recyclability, and environmental sustainability, without sacrificing cultural integrity. Feasibility is also established in terms of affordability and availability of local materials. The study contributes to sustainable historic restoration by incorporating traditional architecture and green innovation, setting an example for the greening of cultural sites.
