A UTAUT-Based Framework for Analyzing Users’ Intention to Adopt HFCVs: A Case Study of the UAE
摘要
Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCVs) are one of the clean options available to reduce CO2 emissions in the transportation sector, but their adoption is influenced by consumer behavior and key determinants. Previous studies in the UAE have generally concentrated on electric vehicles, while HFCVs were less studied. Our purpose is to explore the key factors influencing the intention to use HFCVs in the UAE by using the UTAUT model. This study, based on an online questionnaire, collected responses from 292 prospective customers. To ascertain users’ intentions toward HFCVs, we employed a structural equation modeling technique using Smart-PLS 4.1. We found that technological knowledge, performance expectancy, and social influence have a positive effect on users’ intention to adopt HFCVs. For faster adoption, the study suggests that the government must bring together policymakers, automakers, and hydrogen suppliers, with a focus on infrastructure, awareness, and early adoption through government fleets and public transport.
