One Village One CEO as Social Innovation for Sustainability and the Curriculum: Teaching About and for Sustainable Development in Indonesia
摘要
Rapid economic growth is projected in developing countries across East Asia and the Pacific, with rates expected to rise from 3.5% in 2022 to 5.1% in 2023. To sustain this growth, it is essential for younger generations to understand sustainability while addressing both economic and nutritional challenges. The abundance of land in rural areas presents an opportunity to develop agricultural enterprises that can meet food demands. The One Village One CEO (OVOC) initiative serves as a social innovation program designed to build business ecosystems that empower youth through the utilization of local resources. This initiative integrates focus groups, interviews, and direct assistance as part of its implementation strategy. In Cianjur, West Java, the program increased the average income from IDR 2,200,000 in 2019 to IDR 3,325,000 in 2021, generated employment for 9000 individuals, and facilitated academic partnerships involving 343 university students. As of today, OVOC has reached 10 provinces, 35 regencies or municipalities, and 452 villages in Indonesia. It contributes directly to the achievement of multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including: (1) No Poverty, (2) Zero Hunger, (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth, (9) Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, (12) Responsible Consumption and Production, (14) Life Below Water, and (17) Partnerships for the Goals.
