The present paper described an experimental study on the effect of other’s approach on whole-body movements of approached person. Participants’ 3D movements while other person approached and crossed beyond participants’ personal space boundaries were analyzed. To quantify difference among probability distributions of movements, we proposed a combined method of precise motion analysis and KL divergence. As a result, the study had an initial threefold outcome. First, this study demonstrated the possibility of capturing the influence of others’ spatial behavior on individual from the perspective of physical movement. Second, the results suggested even in the area outside their interpersonal space boundary, other’s approach influenced a person’s movements. Third, the study suggested our combined method of precise motion analysis based on human-musculoskeletal model and KL divergence was an effective tool for detecting the difference of probability distribution of movements.

摘要
