Historical Context and Evolution of Industry 5.0
摘要
The industrial revolutions have each played a transformative role in shaping the modern world. From the mechanization of the late eighteenth century to the advanced cyber-physical systems of the twenty-first century, each revolution has redefined how industries operate, how labor markets evolve, and how society adapts to technological advancements. The Fourth Industrial Revolution, with its focus on automation and digitalization, has made significant strides in shaping industries, but it also brought forward challenges such as job displacement, skill gaps, and environmental concerns. Industry 5.0, emerging as a response to these limitations, seeks to humanize the technological landscape by reintroducing human creativity, ethics, and sustainability into the industrial process. This chapter reviews the history and impact of each industrial revolution, assesses the benefits and limitations of Industry 4.0, and explores how Industry 5.0 addresses the gaps left by previous technological advancements.
