High rates of deaths at young ages significantly reduce total life expectancy at birth. Nevertheless, once survived to childhood, life expectancy tends to increase relevantly. This analysis focuses on the female population of 192 countries worldwide, covering a time period of 59 years, between 1960 and 2019. Several factors, related to social, demographic, geographic, economic and human dimensions, will be additionally investigated using descriptive statisticsDescriptive statistic and exploratory multivariate analysisMultivariate analysis and discussed on in the light of a brief review of recent (empirical) literature. The study suggests that, despite some fluctuations, affluent countries have experienced an increase in the female life expectancy at birth over time, while this trend is often inverted or remains as stagnant in developing countries. Nevertheless, the disparities between developing and developed countries still highlight differences in the women life conditions. A comparative scrutiny of such trends allows identification of the main areas of interventions to improve the female life quality at global level.
