In this chapter, I explore how generative AI (Gen AI) and human emotions intersect to amplify creativity in human-AI co-creation. While Gen AI excels at generating diverse information by analyzing vast datasets, its true creative potential is unlocked only when employees skillfully deploy their emotions as co-creative assets. Drawing on the emotion-creativity literature, I identify three key mechanisms through which emotions enable employees to leverage Gen AI for greater creative performance: (1) Emotions as Intuitive Guides, (2) Emotions as Cognitive Enhancers, and (3) Emotions as Regulatory Drives. This chapter reviews empirical research on these emotional catalysts and offers illustrative workday examples of how employees can apply them in co-creation with Gen AI to produce novel and impactful ideas. I also discuss how workplace conditions—such as psychological empowerment, support, and safety—can amplify the creative benefits of emotions. In an era when Gen AI is revolutionizing our intellectual and creative processes, the effective use of emotion becomes a critical advantage, ensuring that creativity continues to be a deeply human endeavor.
