Groupthink and Diversity Management: Transformational Leadership in the Face of Technological Challenges and Opportunities
摘要
This chapter explores the intersection of groupthink and diversity management within the context of technologically mediated, virtual work environments. Our chapter discusses how diverse workgroups, when effectively managed, can counteract groupthink by fostering an environment that encourages critical evaluation and open dialogue. Here, transformational leadership is especially relevant, as leaders who exercise this leadership style may be able to strengthen inclusivity and ensure that diversity translates into constructive dissent rather than conformity. In combination with this argument, this chapter examines the role of virtuality, AI, and digital platforms in enhancing or hindering diversity management, highlighting how these technologies can democratize access to information and support inclusive decision-making processes. This chapter concludes by proposing best practices for integrating AI and digital platforms into diversity management and transformational leadership strategies, emphasizing the need for intentional efforts to create inclusive virtual environments that leverage technology to amplify diverse perspectives and mitigate groupthink.
