Design of Beams
摘要
Main hull structuresEffective breadth suchAttached plate as decks, shells, and bulkheads are composed of stiffened panelsStiffened panel, which include plates, secondary members and primary members. Beams and stiffeners play an important role in the stiffened panels because the lateral pressure acting on the plates is first transmitted to these secondary members. In this chapter, rational design of beams is discussed from various perspective, including effective breadth/width, optimum design of cross section, effect of asymmetrical (L-shaped) stiffener, effect of axial and shear stress. Practical solution of continuous beams is also explained with many examples encountered in ship structural design, such as irregular span, simply supported end by a header, partially distributed or concentrated load, and forced displacement.
