FEM can be used for a wide variety of problems in linear and nonlinear solid mechanics, dynamics, and ships’ structural stability problems, in accordance with the development of computer technology and its popularization. This chapter reviews the fundamentals of FEM and then explains several tips and know-how for efficient application of FEM to ship hull structures.
