In this chapter the deflection of hull structure is discussed, including hull girder deflection and associated precautions for fitting design, deflection of beams, deflection of girders and webs, additional stress in secondary members caused by the deflection of a primary supporting member, and the limitation of deflection from viewpoints other than strength.
