Future Directions and Recommendations
摘要
This chapter outlines the emerging directions for Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) as it evolves into a globally relevant, scientifically grounded, and culturally inclusive therapeutic approach. Rooted in evolutionary psychology and affective neuroscience, CFT has demonstrated efficacy in treating shame, self-criticism, and emotional dysregulation across clinical, educational, and occupational contexts. As the evidence base expands, critical recommendations include enhancing methodological rigour through longitudinal studies and component network meta-analyses, advancing neurobiological validation, and developing culturally adapted models for diverse populations. The chapter also explores the promise and challenges of digital and blended CFT delivery, including self-guided programmes and virtual training. Addressing fear of compassion and supporting practitioner wellbeing remain essential for effective implementation. Policy-level integration, institutional support, and interdisciplinary collaboration are key to scaling CFT sustainably. Taken together, these insights map a roadmap for CFT's future, grounded in compassion as both a clinical intervention and a social imperative.
