Introduction to Male Sexual Dysfunction (MSD)
摘要
Male sexual dysfunction (MSD) is a prevalent and complex health concern significantly impacting men’s physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being. This introduction explores MSD, a condition expected to rise with increasing life expectancy. Affecting approximately 31% of males, MSD encompasses various forms including erectile dysfunction (ED), premature ejaculation (PE), and low libido, with ED alone impacting around 50% of men aged 40–70. Beyond the direct sexual health implications, MSD often signals underlying medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, emphasizing its role as a crucial indicator for broader health assessment. Addressing MSD is vital not only for enhancing the quality of life—improving self-esteem, relationships, and mental health—but also for promoting comprehensive healthcare. Key risk factors include aging, medical conditions (such as diabetes and heart disease), psychological issues (such as stress, anxiety, and depression), and lifestyle choices (such as smoking, obesity, and alcohol use). Understanding these diverse factors is essential for holistic diagnosis and tailored treatment approaches, ultimately contributing to improved individual and relational health outcomes.
