In the design of dynamic systems (e.g., structural systems, mechanical systems), and issue that often arises is the possibility of controlling its response for certain categories of external loads, see for instance the book by B. Yang [1]. We defined as control of the primary structural system the attachment of a secondary system through which a control mechanism will be implemented. A typical application example is the elimination of unwanted vibrations that are manifested in the structure using secondary control systems, and which might be able to minimize overall structural vibrations as well. These techniques are classified as either passive or active structural control, depending on whether control is triggered when a certain threshold response value is exceeded, or the secondary system is augmented by a prediction mechanism which allows for corrective measures to be implemented a priori as the dynamic response unfolds with time.

摘要
